Board of Commissioners
The Commissioners are elected officials of Valley General Hospital who each serve a rotating three-year term. The Board meets monthly at the hospital and has quarterly public forums. All meetings and meeting minutes are open to the public.
Each of the commissioners on the Board of Valley General Hospital has been actively involved in this community for many years. Raising their families and working locally has given them continued insight into this rapidly growing community and the challenges that have come with the growth.
A dynamic trio, providing a wealth of personal and professional experience, guidance and insight continues to be invaluable resources to this hospital and the community. The Board’s mission is to ensure the needs of those they represent, our patients and the citizens of our District, are our top priority and concern.

2008 Board Meeting Schedule
Alice Cabe
Ms. Cabe joined our Board in 1994. Her current term extends to December 31, 2009. Ms. Cabe has a strong interest in community health, which began during her university work microbiology and public health. Ms. Cabe is employed in the health care industry as a manager of a hospital laboratory. Ms. Cabe and her family have lived in Snohomish County for many years and actively participates in community functions.

Dennis Dinkla, DVM
Dr. Dinkla joined the Board in 1991. He was born and raised as an Iowa farmboy, the oldest of seven kids. Dr. Dinkla graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in veterinary medicine. He and his wife, Barbara moved to Snohomish in 1969, and now have 2 married daughters and 3 grandchildren. They are both active in the Snohomish United Methodist church and other community activities. Dr. Dinkla has served as president of the Chamber of Commerce, nearly 15 years as a public schools activist on school bond and levy campaigns, nearly 30 years as an active Kiwanis member and served on many state and national veterinary medicine boards. It has always been a desire of Dr. Dinkla to give back to the community that has so richly treated he and his family. Being able to serve as an elected Commissioner of the Hospital District is a responsibility he takes seriously and truly enjoys. Dr. Dinkla's current term extends to December 31, 2011. Dr. Dinkla is employed in Monroe, which provides added insight to local residents and community issues as well.

Neil Watkins
Mr. Watkins joined the board in January 2006. After retiring from the corporate world in 2001, Watkins realized there was a lot of work left to do. He took a job working with the Snohomish County Economic Development Council (EDC) in April in 2003. After working for the EDC, Watkins was hired as the Monroe Chamber Executive Director. Watkins enjoys being involved and staying active in the community where he lives. He has volunteered with many organizations. Special interests and skills Watkins brings to the board included over 20 years of senior management, leadership, financial analysis and budgeting. Mr. Watkins current term extends to December 31, 2013.
