Hospital Lifts Old MRI Machine and Trailer
Monroe, WA – On Friday, March 24 residents in Monroe might have notice a large piece of machinery in Valley General Hospital’s parking lot lifting a 45 ft. long trailer into the air and on the back of a large semi truck.
The Valley General Hospital trailer was home to the old GE Signa Advantage MRI machine that had been at the hospital since 2000. The smaller MRI machine was old technology and according to VGH Imaging Manager, Sandy Mendes, “it limited the type of patient as well as the types of procedures we were capable of doing.”
With the opening of the new medical office building in August 2005, Valley General Hospital had the opportunity to lease space large enough to house a new state-of-the-art MRI machine. “This is the newest technology,” stated Mendes. “The new MRI machine has increased scanning capabilities. Our patients are also experiencing reduced problems with claustrophobia.”
