New Program to Benefit VGH Cancer Services
Funds purchased DVD players, food and video library
Monroe, WA –Providing patients a healing and comfortable environment is something that is very important to Valley General Hospital. We practice medicine with a health and healing philosophy. We believe that healing comes from the mind, body and spirit together. And recently, Valley General Hospital’s cancer patients are finding visits to the hospital a little more comfortable.
The Valley General Hospital Foundation found a need and recently approved a measure to fund the Cancer Comfort Program to provide our patients with something as simple as a healthy snack or a way to help pass the time.
The program facilitated the purchase of six portable DVD players, a library of DVDs and snacks and meals for cancer patients and family members to have while they undergo chemotherapy treatments.
“These small gestures go miles with our patients,” states Ranelle Wolfe, oncology nurse.
In keeping with this health and healing philosophy, Valley General Hospital has made many facility upgrades in the past year to provide our patients and visitors with a calming, healing environment. Adding new paint, flooring and furniture to the main lobby and cafeteria, and moving forward with plans to implement a second healing garden. Also in the next few months, Valley General Hospital will be installing a sound system by Aesthetica that will release soothing music to certain areas of the hospital.
