NUTRITION AND DIET

Nutrition is a key ingredient to a healthy lifestyle. The foods you eat affect your energy level, your weight and your health.

Valley General Hospital has a staff of Registered and Certified Dietitians that can help you sort through the medical and dietary information that is available to find the best food choices for you and your family.

Inpatient Services

Dietitians are on staff to provide nutritional assessment, treatment and education for Valley General Hospital inpatients. Nutrition education for a patient’s needs following discharge is available for patients, caregivers and family members.

Outpatient Services

Individual Nutrition Counseling

Registered Dietitians are available to provide nutrition education in a private setting within Valley General Hospital for prescribed diets and for general nutrition information. Diet education is available to any age group for all areas of specialized diet needs, including:

  • Heart Disease
  • Cancer
  • Renal Disease
  • Gastrointestinal Disease
  • Pre and post Weight Loss surgeries
  • Weight Control
  • Wound Healing
  • Pregnancy/Lactation
  • Pre-diabetes

To make an outpatient appointment:

  • Obtain a referral for nutrition counseling from your primary care physician and/or medical specialist (MD, DO, ARNP, PA-C).
  • Call 360-794-1447, ext. 235 to make an appointment.
  • Appointments are available during the day Monday through Friday.
  • Your initial visit will last approximately 1 hour.
  • Follow-up visits of 30 minutes each are available.
  • With a referral and appropriate diagnosis, counseling sessions may be covered by insurance (please contact your insurance provider if you have questions about coverage).
  • All Valley General Hospital Dietitians are qualified Medicare providers.
